Today we were invited to Meow Wolf to participate in a micro controller showcase. Mr Bruce and a team of Students traveled to Santa Fe New Mexico to share some of our HackerSpace activities, including HAL3000. Students participating in the outreach were, Paul Judge, Stephanie Perez, Dalton Pierce, and Marlan Ball plus CNM Faculty member Rob Garner joined in on the fun. In addition to sharing HAL3000 we demonstrated our Raspberry Pi based super computer, our student built 3D printer, Marlan's awesome LED cube, and Sense Hat animation activity. All demonstrations were well received and the students had a lot of fun sharing and exploring Meow Wolf exhibits.
We have a proper mount for the pixy cam don't worry....This is a throwback to a couple weeks ago. Note the awesome duct tape work!
Keep an eye out for the team member posts! within the next week each member will take over the blog and write about what they've been up to this whole time.... If you haven't already noticed our blog is a bit different from the others....This is because the Biology major volunteered to follow the team of CIS majors around.....HAHAHA I have no idea what's going on but, I'm having fun.
Here's the point I've been working with these major NERDS as they complete these task and have been providing the most basic explanations to describe the amazing things they have been doing. So, what better way to explain their projects and have them write what they've been up too.... Thought a quick break is much needed. Check this out, totally awesome!!! Okay, so check it out...We teamed up with CNM's FUSEMakerSpace! FUSEMakerSpace is a community center here in Albuquerque that provides the tools and equipment that allow members to design, prototype and create manufactured works. They also give members access to affordable, high quality classes as well as mentoring from other makers! Totally cool right?! It gets better....they helped us put our CNM HackerSpace logo onto stickers!!!! We will be passing them out at the competition ! Just ask any member!
If you want to know more about FUSE check out their website https://fusemakerspace.org/about/about-fuse-makerspace/ Unfortunately the team had to cancel the Tuesday meeting due to snow...However that didn't stop Paul from getting things done! Paul started putting HAL together with the new chassis that he designed. Big thanks to Paul for being talented in 3D design we wouldn't be where we are without your skills!!!!
We cant just stop now! We have more fundraisers coming up!! Heres a list!
-3 more meal fundraisers at Crazy Lizard, California Pastrami, and Torinos at Home -Goodwill fundraiser -Paint night at Kelly Jo's painting -T-shirt sales Back at it today! We are putting the robot back together so that our drivers can begin practicing (me...I need to practice) although we ran into a slight oopsies when we had to search through the bins of screwdrivers for the right one... It turns out Mr. Bruce took it home...No worries we eventually found a screwdriver that worked!
